The barrier to starting has never been lower — a phone and an idea is genuinely enough. The barrier to sticking with it long enough to matter is where most people actually struggle.
What actually moves the needle early on
- Pick a lane before you pick a platform. What you make content about matters more than which app you post it to first.
- Post consistently, not perfectly. A steady stream of decent content outperforms sporadic perfectionism.
- Choose platforms where new creators aren't invisible. Saturated platforms bury new accounts under algorithms tuned for already-large creators. Founding-member platforms and newer apps often give early creators more visibility precisely because they need it.
Where to actually post
New creators often do best getting in early on a platform before it's saturated — both for visibility and, increasingly, for the payout terms platforms offer their earliest members.
